The City of Salisbury’s Field Services Department is dedicated to maintaining Council’s essential infrastructure, ensuring that public spaces and assets remain safe, functional, and inviting. This comprehensive service includes the maintenance of buildings, workshops, fleet, and stores; civil infrastructure such as drainage, footpaths, and waste management; and the care of parks, landscapes, and open spaces. Specialized teams handle everything from arboriculture and turf management to pest control and security, while also responding to emergencies and maintaining contracts for features like reserve maintenance and cemetery services. Field Services plays a crucial role in supporting a vibrant and sustainable community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Council’s Tree Maintenance Team, utilizing your expertise in arboriculture to ensure efficient pruning operations and contribute to high-quality open spaces for the community.
  • Provide accurate details on resources and materials needed for operational success.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition according to best practices.
  • Assist in creating, implementing, and monitoring work schedules and programs for tree maintenance and other services.
  • Help prioritize and schedule resources and work crews for both programmed and reactive services.
  • Liaise proactively with internal and external customers to identify and plan service delivery.
  • Ensure all works comply with relevant legislation and operational standards.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate lll or equivalent in Horticulture
  • 24 month minimum experience in tree maintenance operations
  • Truck license - minimum MR
  • Work zone traffic management certificate
  • EWP license
