The role:

Working with an experienced team of professionals, the Open Space Activation Officer will assist the design, planning and delivery of Public Open Space aimed at building community connections and personal wellbeing. The role includes delivering place activation initiatives that are culturally inclusive, engage a broad audience, and connects residents to sport and recreation facilities and events. We also seek to activate a variety of public spaces along the Little Para River Linear Park and the many interconnecting community precincts.

Duties:

  • Activation of Public Open Space including linear parks, play-spaces, civic precincts and reserves.
  • Support the strategic review of public open space for leisure, events, conservation and cultural activities.
  • Facilitate innovative community partnerships to increase the use of public open spaces, sportsgrounds and recreation centres in the City of Salisbury.
  • Preparing plans and reports supporting place activation initiatives.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience in recreation planning, community development or similar.
  • Understanding the dynamics and motivations for public use of open space.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders and facilitate teamwork.
  • Ability to interpret research into strategic projects.
  • Creative thinking and a passion for creating healthy and connected communities.
